Injury Upddates - Dinkins, Moore
Two Panthers left games early with injuries this weekend, neither look really serious but they both could miss some playing time:
For Tampa Bay, Dave Moore injured his ribs and could miss some time or could be back for this Sunday:
A rib injury to Dave Moore in Sunday’s loss to Baltimore prompted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to bring in four or five long-snappers for workouts Monday, and head coach Jon Gruden said Monday that the decision at that position could be critical.
“If we don’t start playing better on offense, that might be the best acquisition we make because we’re going to punt a lot,” Gruden said, one day after the Bucs were shut out, 27-0, by the Ravens in their season opener.
…
Gruden didn’t know the extent of long-snapper Dave Moore’s rib injury as of Monday. Tight end Doug Jolley handled the long snaps Sunday after Moore was hurt, but Gruden indicated if Moore can’t play this week, they will sign a new long-snapper.
Moore gets almost all of his playing time handling the long-snapping duties for the Bucs. Doesn’t sound too serious, but we’ll keep our ears open. Another interesting note I found while searching around the net for info on this, this season Dave became the longest-tenured Tampa Bay Buc ever…no one has worn the Tampa uniform for more seasons than Pitt’s Dave Moore.
Darnell Dinkins left the Browns‘ game early with a hamstring injury, and it sounds like he probably will miss some time:
Tight end Darnell Dinkins left the game with a hamstring injury that could cost him some playing time. Paul Irons, a tight end who played for the Browns last season and was in camp this year was spotted in the training complex yesterday. He could be re-signed if doctors say Dinkins will be out a prolonged period.
Seems like there is a huge number of players around the league with hammy problems this season, and we can add Dinkins to that list. Hopefully he doesn’t have to miss to much PT, but you also hope he doesn’t come back too early and has to deal with this injury all season.
